Akâr Dining is a French restaurant that opened in March 2020 located in the neighborhood of TTDI. It is run by a team of young chefs who are proud in challenging the status quo of dining concepts and believe in approaching their dishes in various methods. They serve Modern French Cuisine using flavors and ingredients that are locally driven in tasting menu that changes every month. We had the Seasonal Carte Blanche (RM200++/pax). You can choose to sit at the table seat or counter seat. The perks of sitting at the counter seat is being able to watch the chefs working on your dishes.
Counter Seat
Glutinous Rice Bread with Umami Butter
Fish & Soy- Hamachi (Yellowtail) with coriander oil, soy sauce, scallion puree & garlic chips
Comment: Taste was similar to chinese style steam fish, hamachi was fresh
Au Terroir 3.0- Asssorted vegetables with potato soil and yoghurt sauce
Comment: Pretty unique combination and texture but not my favorite dish
Octopus- Salted egg and curry leaf chimichurri (Supplementary course +RM20)
Comment: Like this dish the most among all! Loved the chewy inner texture with crispy exterior and it paired so well with the salted egg and chimichurri which made it tasty and aromatic.
Meat- Local Cherry Valley Dry Aged Duck with orange and coffee reduction, cabbage puree and roasted cabbage
Comment: Overall, it was okay but I didn't quite like the cabbage puree
Liver- Foie Gras with kelulut honey and chesnut soup
Comment:
The chef was definitely generous with the foie gras, the biggest piece I ever
had alone. The chef went for the sweet version instead of the usual savory
version. I liked the first few bites but I felt it was too filling for me after
that. Felt wasted as I didn't enjoy it after the first few bites.
Oshikawa Fruit Tomato with Chrysanthemum Tea
Comment: The best tomato I ever had! Plump, sweet, juicy and refreshing!
Sicilian Pistachio Mousse with White Chocolate and Longan
Comment: I am a huge fan of pistachio so I enjoyed this dessert with rich pistachio taste and perfect level of sweetness
I think Akâr Dining is definitely worth the visit if
you are looking for a unique twist of French Cuisine. The good thing is Akar
will change its menu almost every month so that you get the opportunity to try out
different creations. Do make an advance booking, preferably at least 1-2 weeks
earlier to avoid disappointment.
