Enfin by James Won is an international multi-award contemporary French Restaurant and Bar located within Menara Hap Seng, Kuala Lumpur. Stepping into Enfin was like entering a luxurious dining lounge. We were welcomed by the friendly staff into their sleek entrance, first saw their bar with an impressive collection of whiskies and cognac. The dining area had an elegant vibe with its full-length windows, wooden walls and the instagrammable spiral staircase.

We had decided to go for the 5-course menu.

Complimentary Amuse Bouche were served to us for a start. I liked the Bread Platter with assorted house butter, the bread were served warm that paired well with its delicious butter. 2nd Amuse Bouche was Beet & Caviar- Beetroot and potato tart with Malaysian tropical sturgeon caviar. 3rd Amuse Bouche was Aloe Nigiri- Bario rice puff with fermented chili and ikura (salmon roe).

The first course was Aburi Hokkaido scallop with yam bean purée, pickled turnip, jalapeno granita, wasabi and yuzu dressing, chive, dill oil and fermented black garlic oil. The scallops were fresh but I didn't quite like the taste of the oily dressing. Second course was Lobster bisque with seared lobster meat, truffle crème fraiche, ikura, Cameron strawberries and temple basil crouton. The bisque was creamy, smooth and flavorful with chunks of lobster meat and the strawberries gave a hint of sourness.

The third course was Capellini/Angel hair pasta with truffle, mushroom ragout, burnt coconut, kerisik, chive, and parsley oil. To be honest, the taste of this dish was off for me. We opted for Foie gras with caramlised leek, Bentong ginger, lemon butter, sweet braising liquor and temple basil flowers (Additional RM128). The foie gras left a rich, buttery sensation when it melted in my mouth. For mains, I opted for New Zealand lamb tenderloin with char siew glace, pickled radish and beetroot, ikura, puff Borneo heirloom rice grain and wild celery oil. The meat was really tender and it matched well with the sweet and savoury char siew glaze.

The staff presented Damak chocolate gateaux- Espresso mousse, Job’s Tear with Batang Kali cocoa, coconut crème tuiles, meringue chard and pea flower dust. The chocolate was rich and its sweetness was mild, really liked this delicate dish. The second dessert was Bombe Alaska - Passion fruit parfait glacé, Breton biscuit, lemon curd, caramelised orange and burnt meringue. This dessert had a unique citrusy taste with natural sweetness and I could eat the passion fruit seeds. Not overly sweet Mint Chocolate was served to us as well. They really did a good job with the desserts.

Enfin never fail to present stunning dishes to their guests. Taste was great overall but I didn't fancy the Hokkaido Scallop and Angel Hair Pasta. I felt those two could be better taste wise. However, their hospitality was amazing which gave us a fun dining experience as a whole. I am looking forward to try out their new menu which will be released soon.
