Kafe Kleptokrat is a pretty cafe by the pool that is located in the heart of KL city. It is a nice place to chill with your friends and take some nice photos. The cafe is spacious with outdoor and indoor seating. Outdoor seating is a better spot if you are there to take nice photos although the weather can be quite hot in the afternoon. You can opt for the indoor seating if you prefer an air-conditioned space. It is a two-floor setting with a swimming pool in the middle.
The downside is they do not accept reservation, only walk-in is allowed. It will be better if they just save the contacts in the waiting list and inform the customers once their table is available, especially during covid times when social distance is compulsory. By doing this, you actually get to save your customers' time and avoid crowding in front of your cafe. Really hope the owner will take this point into consideration because the queue can be up to 2 hours on the weekends.
They offer all day breakfast, sandwiches, local food such as nasi lemak and cakes. The selection of food is limited and many were out of stock when I was there, left only a few choices for me to choose from. I ordered their signature Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng Berempah (RM21), Chicken Ham & Cheese Sandwich (RM20), Oreo Cheesecake (RM16), Knight King (RM15) and Dancing On The Floor (RM15).
Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng Berempah (RM21)
Comment: Tender chicken with crispy skin but taste was mild. The rice was aromatic but slightly dry, but it taste better with the sambal.
Chicken Ham & Cheese Sandwich (RM20)
Comment: The bread was slightly burnt but the filling was sufficient with generous cheese slices. Fries will make this dish better compared to the plain nachos.
Oreo Cheesecake (RM16)
Comment: Would appreciate it if the waitress serves this after food instead of serving it before the mains without even asking. This cake was recommended by the staff but I find it plain, the cheese taste wasn't strong.
Knight King (RM15)
Dancing On The Floor (RM15)
Fortunately I didn't need to wait that long due to a small number of pax, about 30 minutes on a weekday. However, the queue was long even during weekdays. If you want to check out this place, better get prepared to wait outside the cafe. Food was decent, drinks were normal for me. Do drop by this cafe if you are looking to get some nice shots!
