Kanbe Ramen, the newest Hakata tonkotsu ramen joint, just opened on February 2021 located at 163 Retail Park, Mont Kiara. Kanbe is run by two chefs from Tokyo. There are two types of signature dishes in Kanbe: Kanbe Tonkotsu Ramen (RM31.20) and Kanbe Tonkotsu Tsukemen (RM39). Kanbe uses 100% pork bone broth that is simmered for 48 hours to create genuine pork bone soup. Guests are able to choose their preferred soup base from 8 different 100% pure tonkotsu flavours: Shiro (basic), Aka (doubanjiang fermented chilli bean paste, spicy & umami), Kuro (squid ink & mix charred garlic), Kohaku (bonito, dried mackerel and dried sardine), Sakura (ebi prawn), Yuzu (Japanese yuzu), Goma (roasted sesame) and Seasonal.

Also, you are able to customize the firmness of your noodles, richness of the soup, soup sauce's spiciness level, amount of garlic, amount of flavored oil, green or white negi (spring onion). Each bowl comes with chashu, but you can top up RM5 to switch to kakuni which is more luscious slabs of pork belly. They serve Oolong Tea (unlimited refill) for free as well. We ordered Tonkotsu Ramen Shiro & Aka.

Kanbe Tonkotsu Ramen- Aka Soup
Comment: Deliciously firm, thin noodles in rich pork broth soup with a hint of spiciness but I would prefer more garlic in my soup.

Kanbe Tonkotsu Ramen- Shiro Soup
Comment: Pure pork broth soup with slight sweetness

Comment: The chefs were generous with two pieces of thick cuts of pork meat, my favorite item here is definitely the chashu, tender and tasty!

Kanbe Ramen is worth the try for ramen lovers! Don't be surprise to find a storm of queue outside the restaurant, so be there early!
