Makoto Japanese Cuisine is KL's best bet for the freshest, highest-tier unagi. If you are an unagi lover, no doubt Makoto is the place to indulge in a premium quality eel, from its flesh to its liver and bones. Makoto is run remotely by the restaurant's executive chef, Mr. Otani
Shinichiro, who also helms a family-owned authentic unagi omakase
restaurant in Tokyo. Do check out their Menu if you can't wait to try their signature freshwater eel that was grilled to perfection, usually it takes 30 minutes to serve.
Japanese Vege Pickles (RM15+)
Comment: Loved the crunchy pickled radish that taste sweet and sour, get this to cleanse your palate
Deep Fried Unagi Bone (RM10+)
Comment: Perfect nibbles that was nicely fried that pairs well with a glass of beer. Very crunchy with a hint of saltiness.
Salmon Belly Sashimi (RM38+) and Sime Saba Sashimi (RM28+)- Vinegared Mackerel
Comment: Both sashimi were fresh although this meal was delivered for some distance, loved that thick slices of salmon belly sashimi.
Stir Fried Mix Vege (RM13+)
Comment: Huge portion of a combination of different types of vegetables. Crunchy texture but it was slightly more oily.
Soft Shell Crab Maki Sushi Roll (RM32+)
Comment: This maki was quite good as well, I could really taste the crunchiness of the fried soft shell crab with its flesh.
Umaki (RM48+)- Unagi with Egg Omelette
Comment: Liked the omelette that was fluffy and creamy but I wasn't happy with the tiny portion of unagi stuffed inside. I could barely taste the unagi.
Unaju Set A (RM173+)- Full unagi kabayaki, steam rice, unagi liver soup
Comment: The unagi was really soft and tender, totally in love with its texture: succulent flesh that indicates freshness of this premium unagi with sweet umami flavor, you will definitely crave for more!
