Sushi Ten Omakase

[Date Visited: May 2021]

Sushi Ten Omakase officially launched in October 2020. It shares part of an open kitchen with its sister restaurant, Senso Izakaya in Empire City, but Sushi Ten Omakase is its own outstanding entity. Omakase is a unique dining concept where diners are seated at the counter in front of the chef and able to enjoy how the chef orchestras his kitchen up until each and every dish is created. Sushi Ten sources most of the ingredients directly from Japan. Guests get to experience the intimate setting at 8-seater counter, while being served the food using the finest and freshest seasonal ingredients flown in from Japan.

There are 3 menus available: Yamasaki Omakase (RM208/pax), Ten Omakase (RM298/pax) and Koyo Omakase (RM498/pax). We had decided to try out their Ten Omakase that comes with appetizer, seasonal soup, sashimi, steamed egg, teppanyaki 2 kinds, specialty sushi 8pcs and dessert.

Hotaru Ika (baby squid) with Yuzu Miso
Comment: Plump and chewy, very fresh, one of my favorite dish as a good start

Marinated Butterfish and Amaebi Sashimi
Comment: Marinated butter fish taste normal but the amaebi was fresh

Truffle Chawanmushi
Comment: Not bad but the truffle taste wasn't that strong, didn't blend well with the chawanmushi

Hamaguri Hotate Miso Soup

Kinmedai (Golden Eye Sea Bream) Nigiri
Comment: Chewy with slight fatty texture

Akahobo Nigiri
Comment: Very chewy with mild taste

Tobio (Flying Fish) Nigiri
Comment: Very similar to akahobo

Akami (Lean Tuna) Nigiri
Comment: Meaty and bold taste. I prefer chutoro and otoro.

Mongo Ika (Cuttlefish) Nigiri
Comment: It wasn't fresh. My very first time eating something that was not fresh in omakase dining.

Hokkaido Uni Nigiri
Comment: Mild sweetness

Anago (Eel) Nigiri
Comment: Soft and sweet, less oily compared to unagi

Hotate (Scallop) with Uni Nigiri
Comment: Firm and sweet

Tiger Prawn Teppanyaki
Comment: Fresh and grilled perfectly

Squid Teppanyaki
Comment: Very chewy and taste much better compared to the nigiri

Foie Gras Teppanyaki (Add on RM55)
Comment: Rich and buttery, grilled perfectly with a balanced taste

Dessert- Lime ice cream
Comment: Pathetic dessert to end the course

Birthday Sushi Cake

Freshness is the key to a fine omakase dining, it should be the utmost priority. To be honest, I was disappointed when I was served something that was not fresh. I hope the chefs can improve the quality of the food to give the best dining experience to their guests.
